An independent, non-political Sierra Leonean company serving communities, government and development partners.
SCGSSL was formed on 13 March 2014 as a registered company under the Company Registration Act No. 5 of 2009. Its founder, Abdul Bakarr Salim, set out to bring professional skills to development, welfare and environmental work, with a special focus on children.
In the early years we carried out intensive needs assessments of children in our operating areas. We then worked with radio, television and newspapers, schools, ministries and communities on food security, children's and women's rights, and sustainable environmental management.
We responded to the 2015 floods, the 2017 mudslide and the COVID-19 pandemic with relief, tree planting and public education. We also give educational support each year to deserving children and child-centred institutions.
Today we combine that community experience with technical consultancy, including environmental and social impact assessments for solar energy projects, evaluation and project design for development partners, agriculture, procurement and training.
To provide cost-effective development solutions. We assess problems professionally, use the data to work with the right stakeholders, and deliver sustainable services in welfare, education, agriculture, health and environmental protection.
A peaceful, progressive Sierra Leone where children's rights to food, education and health are met, and where communities live in harmony with their environment, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goals 1, 2 and 13.
What we work towards with our partners.
Protect children's rights to food, health and quality education, with special attention to the girl child.
Support agriculture, create jobs for young people and train vulnerable women in business and vocational skills.
Promote reforestation, climate adaptation and renewable energy that protect life, property and ecosystems.
We say what we will do, and we do it.
We serve everyone fairly, whatever their background.
We build solutions that last and see them through.
We keep clear records and answer for our work and our money.
We work with communities, government and partners, not around them.
We bring diligence and care to every assignment.
